It never fails that when you think you're going to have some extra money.... an unexpected expense pops up
How ex boyfriends/girlfriends pop up out of the woodworks months and years later... when you haven't as much as thought about them....It never fails
When you're having the best day ever... somebody does something to try and mess it up or make you upset...It never fails that
It never fails when you think that one person's season in your life is over and God... or the devil... sends them riiiight back
When the whole family gets together for just the right amount of time in a small space... somebody's going to argue...It never fails
When you hit a good stride in life and things seem to be going well... surprise!! a HUGE bump in the road throws you off...It never fails.
I recently got a phone call at 5:30 am from someone who has been an interesting part of my life. I knew he was going to be calling soon, because it never fails... when I've moved on to a new season in my life or a new relationship... he pops up. So the call wasn't unexpected at all... What I didn't expect was for him to pour out his heart and tell me that I'm his best friend and that I'm one of the few people who really knows him and always loves him the same no matter what.
As the conversation (well him talking and me listening) continued, he began to expound on things that had happened in our past and reasons why he considers me his best friend. The thing that really struck me was when he said that I love him in spite of himself and that no matter how he'd treated me over the years... I always treat him the same way and I always love him unconditionally. So after I woke back up lol... the Lord really began to replay some things in my mind and had me thinking about what he'd said. To make a long story short... my relationship/friendship with him was how God taught me how to love people beyond their issues and how to look at people the way He does.
For a long time he would say that he loved me but I really wasn't so sure until one day he told me he loved me too much to ruin my life by trying to marry me. That day I knew he loved me because what he did was selfless... he could have continued on and proposed or kept me tied up in a fragmented relationship but he didn't. The was over a year ago but it really stuck with me so I had to stop and really think about what it means to love...
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.... 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
In the times when I was frustrated because he was running and his eyes are closed to what God's trying to show him... When your loved one has an addiction and can't seem to get free... when your children are working on your last good nerve... LOVE IS PATIENT
When you see a homeless person on the street begging for food and you have an abundance...If a stranger is lost... A friend is feeling down.... A new family moves to your street... Visitors come to your church....LOVE IS KIND
In that new relationship when strange eyes are on your mate.... When your best friend gets a promotion and you don't... You're the only person in the class who got a passing grade...You've made a mistake and need to apologize....IT DOES NOT ENVY, IT DOES NOT BOAST, IT IS NOT PROUD
When someone cuts you off in traffic.... You have an opportunity to be promoted but at the cost of three other people's jobs... You have something you can hold over your sister/brother's head for blackmail....IT IS NOT RUDE, IT IS NOT SELF-SEEKING
Your boss talks to you like you're uneducated and not qualified.... A customer curses you out... You have horrible service at your favorite place... You lose $100...IT IS NOT EASILY ANGERED
You were raped/molested... Your parents ran out on you.... Your son/daughter wrecks your car.... Your best friend hurts your feelings.....IT KEEPS NO RECORD OF WRONGS
You can spread rumors about your church family... Your child is harming him/herself and you can prevent it... You're sick and have to depend on others to care for you...Your life hasn't been the way you expected it to be and you could be disappointed... LOVE DOES NOT DELIGHT IN EVIL BUT REJOICES WITH THE TRUTH, IT ALWAYS PROTECTS, ALWAYS TRUSTS, ALWAYS HOPES,
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16.....ALWAYS PERSEVERES.
LOVE NEVER FAILS
No matter what the situation is, love never fails! Whether it's the love a a friend, a pet, a mother or father, dear friend, sibling or the love of God.. love never fails. It can heal wounds, bring back joy, dry up tears, and warm the coldest of places in your heart.
Next time that ex pops up, all of your buttons get pushed, your family/children act up, you have a bad day or whatever the case that would cause you to say "IT NEVER FAILS".... remember this post!!
1 Peter 4:8 reminds us to love one another deeply because love covers a multitude of sins... Jut like the love God had for us when He wrapped Himself in flesh and laid His life on the cross to cover our sins...
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.1 John 4:16
