Get Back Up

Over the past couple of years I have witnessed and experienced a major transition in my church family (and the body of Christ as a whole).  We endured a lot, overcame a lot, struggled a lot and lost a lot, but we never lost God.  Our churches went through transitions in leadership,  name changes, mission changes, format changes, and several location changes, but WE didn't stop being the church. We're still on duty and God is still expecting us to be who He called us to be.  I said all of that to simply say this, transition is never easy and some people adjust and move forward faster than others.  As a family (because we still are) our job is to make sure that nobody falls by the wayside, loses hope, or stops running the race.

Some are running injured, some with open wounds, some are being pushed pulled and dragged, but they're coming!  I was reading my devotional at work and the scripture for  the day was

The bows of mighty men are broken and they that stumbled are girded with strength. 1 Samuel 2:4

I  just want to encourage you today that no matter what part of the process you're in... YOU'RE STILL MIGHTY!  You're still a minister, still a Pastor, still a psalmist, still a writer, still called, still chosen!  Our bows may have been broken by circumstances and situations, but we are still God's choice.  Let me break this scripture down for you a little bit so it will bless you even more than just the surface meaning.

Mighty in this context means strong, brave, champion, warrior, and giant.  So if you didn't know, you're a giant in the spirit!  You're already a champion!

Broken is shattered or dismayed. I know a lot of things have been shattered, a lot has been revealed that may have left you dismayed or troubled, but I promise you that God is working even these things together for your good.  Sometimes He will use extreme circumstances to shatter your comfort zone or cut your safety net only to propel you into greater.

Stumbled here means to stagger, totter, waver, to weaken, bring injury or ruin to, or be overthrown.  That's a lot and I know there are people in every state of this word.  Some of us have had our faith shaken and have truly wavered in areas where we thought were rock solid.  Others of us have staggered and tottered with going back to the old man, the world, and things we've been sho nuff delivered from!! all because we've had a weak moment or we've allowed our spirit man to be overthrown.

Now here's the best part...

You'll be girded with strength!  Insert a praise right there...

Girded means encompass (surround or cause to happen), equip, or clothe.  Strength is might, efficiency, wealth, ability, a force.

So regardless of where you are right now, there is a blessing on the way.  This test, this trial, this season is God equipping you with everything you need for the next leg of the journey.  He's causing you to be surrounded with might and efficiency.  He's equipping you with ability and wealth and clothing you with a force like an army to make it through.

So hold your head up high, let go of the weights that are dragging you down and allow God to clothe you with strength.  You have work to do for the Kingdom!
