Changing of the seasons

So here we are in week two of spring and it still feels like the winter..well Don't panic!!  We're just getting started.  Every end marks a new beginning and with every new beginning there is a transition phase...   Well now the seasons all kind of run together but there's still a transition.  We don't go to bed in winter and wake up in summer...

Let's look at this a little bit... In winter everything is dead, lying dormant, or hibernating.  The trees are bare, the animals are mostly in hiding, the grass is frozen, crunchy and covered with snow, and there aren't many birds singing songs of praise... but underneath allll that, there's life!

What appears to be dead is really just going through a transition... the bare trees are producing buds, the hibernating animals are sleeping and burning off added layers of fat, the birds are down south for the winter, the ants are eating stored up food and digging tunnels underground, and the flowers are taking up root deep below the soil.

As I sit here I find myself in the same position.  I've been in a winter season... deep beneath the surface everything was moving and changing.. ideas were being formed, I was impregnated with new vision, new burdens and new assignments. So much has been going on that at times I felt like I would burst from trying to be still.  It's really frustrating when you're physically in one season but mentally and spiritually already in the next... whew!

I have endured my sleepy winter season and I'm walking through the transition now.  If you're in this place don't let it get you down!  God does all things well and even in the midst of change and shifting, He's working things out for your good.  He is still the lifter of our heads, still the King of kings, Lord of lords, and still on the throne.  So on this Good Friday, let me take a moment to praise God for the work He was doing all those years ago on this day...

For as the earth brings forth its bud,
As the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth,
So the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations. Isaiah 61:11

Jesus was sown into the earth when He was laid in the tomb, appearing dead just like seeds do, yet full of life!! My God!!  and when He got up on the third day... RIGHTEOUSNESS AND PRAISE sprang forth before ALL the nations.  All the doubters, all the haters, all the nay-sayers, even those who flat out just didn't believe... HE GOT UP!!

Not only did He get up, but had handled some things while He was in His winter season... He rose with all power in His hand and in  His glorified body.  Nobody recognized Him!  Then He dealt with the doubters, He said here Thomas... you don't believe me.. put your hand right here and see for yourself... The work that had been done was evidenced through scars from His past... I hope y'all caught that!!

So this time, while you're in your winter season and everything appears dead, remember that God is still working and when you spring forth... you're coming out with power!  with the residue of His Glory on you! and with a whole new witness! Be encouraged during the changing of the seasons and be excited about what's to come!! I know I am!
